co-worker = mom

i started my first 'official' day at work with my mom this morning. her and i both know from times past that we do not really work too well together. she likes to boss me around and take advantage of any sort of authority she has over me in her position...and i like to fight everything she says to do and make sure that she knows that she has no power over me. :D i like to point out the 'stupid' things she does, her wacked out stress levels, her inability to stay organized with anything, and also every time she loses her cool and yells at me or talks in her gruffy voice for no good reason. she likes to make sure she points out anything that i do wrong as well, by any margin. if the tape is not quite secure enough, if the cd is crooked in its sleeve by a millimeter, if i should have thrown something out i tried to recycle etc. to find a way to work together will truly take enormous amounts of effort on both of our parts. its is a refining process if anything.

lucky for the both of us, i had the privilege of babysitting for a 7 and 3 year old for two full weeks this past month. wow. i totally forgot what it was like to babysit. they of course can be such cuties and totally adorable, but also ungrateful, sassy, disobedient, rude, and mean (even though you just took them to the park, the pool, walmart to buy them new coloring supplies, made them lunch.....). whats so sad about it...is it reminded me of exactly how i have treated my own mother on so many occasions. there have been so many instances where i want to talk back to my mom or ignore her instruction for my 'better' tactics :), when so quickly, i remember how closely i resemble a 3 year old. eeeeek.

today has gone pretty well considering everything. i kindly pointed out to my mom within only the first hour of our work adventure, that she was yelling at me :) ! ha.
anyway she then stared at me for the next 5 minutes while i continued working. then later on in the day while we were doing a little organizing of the shipping supplies, she lost her cool! but then she caught herself and we both had a good laugh.

all in all, i am actually grateful for this opportunity to try to work out some issues with my mom with how we treat each other. cuz believe it or not...if we dont, my dad is going to fire the both of us. :D
